Who is a candidate: A breast lift (mastopexy) raises and recontours loose, sagging breasts. Many women lose volume and tone in the breasts after having children. Another reason for having this procedure is a significant weight loss.

Procedure:

A commonly peformed technique uses an incision that encircles the areola and then extends vertically down the breast and horizontally along the crease underneath the breast. The resulting scar, which is permanent, will fade to some extent over time.

Healing: Following surgery, you will wear a gauze dressing and a surgical bra. There will be some swelling and bruising that will gradually disappear. You may experience decreased breast or nipple sensation, which is usually temporary. You should be able to return to work within a week or two.
